Five men were sent to jail for a total of 117 years this week for their role in an audacious attempt to smuggle £186 million worth of cocaine into Britain hidden in a consignment of bananas.
But the discovery of the drugs, which came through Portsmouth docks, is only the latest example of international drug smugglers using the same “tried and tested” method.
